The German manufacturer is working on its newest flagship SUV which should go on sale as the 2020 BMW X8. The BMW X8 will feature a coupe-like design with a sloping roofline and more dramatic styling. However, despite a sloping roofline, the rear seat passengers will get sufficient room and comfort. The interior is expected to be based on the new X7 model and will be equipped with the latest technology. Under its hood, we can expect a range of 6- and 8-cylinder engines and the X8 will ride on the all-new architecture.
The newest 2020 BMW X8 will represent the brand’s flagship SUV and should feature more coupe-like design like the smaller X4 and X6 models. It should get a sloping roofline as well and it will be more emphasized than on other BMW sport utility vehicles. The front end will look aggressive with a bold grille and slim LED headlamps. It will also feature sharp lines all over the body which will make it look more muscular. Furthermore, the BMW X8 will ride on massive alloy wheels.
Speaking of the platform, the manufacturer will probably combine elements from the BMW’s CLAR modular architecture and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan’s aluminum platform. As well, with a combination of these platforms, the carmaker will manage to get rigidity but with no addition of more weight.
Inside the cabin, despite it will feature a swept-back roofline, the 2020 BMW X8 will get a sufficiently spacious cabin. It will probably get a two-row seating configuration and will feature four or five seats. So, the rear seats will provide enough room, even for the taller adults. The rear seats can also be folded down which will increase cargo space. As for the design, the interior of the 2020 BMW X8 should borrow some elements from the new X7 model.
As well, the dashboard will most likely get the same large touchscreen for the infotainment system and a digital display in the instrument panel as in the BMW X7. Unfortunately, we still don’t have the information about the equipment. But we can expect the latest tech features and many modern safety systems.
The brand-new 2020 BMW X8 might be presented sometime during next year, probably at the end of 2020. The price is also not yet revealed, but we assume that it could start at roughly $100,000.
It is still not yet officially confirmed, but the choice of six and eight-cylinder units should power the 2020 BMW X8. So, the one option might be the same engine which is found in the BMW 640d and it is a 3.0-liter diesel engine. This unit can generate 313 horsepower and can hit 62 mph in less than 6 seconds.
Furthermore, we can also expect a more powerful version. And it is a 4.4-liter V-8 powertrain. This engine is capable of making 450 horses but it is less fuel efficient than the previous engine. The engines will most likely be linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
