The British company McLaren showed the 720S Spider, a new passenger car based on the McLaren 720S. The car will be available in colors Belize Blue and Aztec Gold, with the basic price in the UK will be 237,000 pounds.
At the base of the model is the monocoque Monocage II-S, which is the evolution of Monocage II, and the frame of the windscreen and rear part has been processed to fit the roof. As a result, the cabriolet is only 49 kg heavier than the normal version.
The folded carbon roof is equipped with panoramic glass in the panel. Raising and lowering the roof lasts only 11 seconds at speeds up to 50 km / h. The aerodynamics of the model are carefully designed so that there is no turbulence in the cabin when the roof is open, and when closed, the flow of air does not interfere with the engine.
The McLaren 720S Spider is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers producing 710 hp at 7500 rpm and working together with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. As a result, the 720S Spider has a power-weight ratio of 533 hp / tonne.
According to the company, the Spider will accelerate from place to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, and up to 200 km / h in 7.9 seconds. The highest speed with an elevated roof is 340 km / h and dropped 325 km / h.
