Japanese Nissan filed a patent application in the European Union’s Intellectual Property Organization (EUIPO) for registering Navara Off-Roader
That name will get an extreme pickup, in response to the Ford Ranger Raptor.
According to information, the name Nissan Navara Off-Roader is registered in group 12, Nice Classification 12, which includes “ground, water and air transmissions, as well as vehicle components”. With this move, Nissan actually confirms the rumors that a year ago emerged that it is preparing for an extreme pickup for Europe.
So far, there is no other information about the future model, but according to Autoguide, the rival of the Ranger Raptor will get a Mercedes-Benz X class engine. In this case, it is a 3.0-liter V6 diesel that develops 258 hp and 550 Nm of torque. If this is true, the Nissan Navara Off-Roader will be more powerful than the Ranger Raptor, which relies on the 3.0-liter with 213 hp and 500 Nm.
Representatives of the alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi declined to comment on the topic, but made it clear that their company has the potential to make a decent rival to the Ford Ranger Raptor. The French-Japanese group is ready to create a similar machine, because it has an enviable consumer interest.
